"Center of the Star" is difficult to hold, true.
BUT it's easy, if you're able to do it in the first round. It's a massive bonus, at a time where noone else will be able to receive a bonus. Invest the ten bonus in defence, and no-one can pry it off you. After that, enforce it each round and use the remaining moves to pick of each arm of the star.

The whole game is based on the 1st move. You get the middle you win. You don't, you can't win. All the rest of the moves are complete waste of time.
