Description

The most easterly of the Caribbean Islands, Barbados went through a succession of colonial masters until the English established it as a world center for the sugar industry. Independent, within the Commonwealth, since 1961, Barbados voted to abolish their link to the British monarchy in 2021, whereupon it became a republic.
