Hauptmann, after seeing me you would still recommend someone to join {101st}? (Well, Aranka recommended it, but you didn't refute it.)

Honestly, the best way to improve right now would be to go to the Noob School thread that Ska2D2 posted, rather than joining a clan at this point. I would only suggest joining a clan after you've learned a bit from being tutored, but this is just my two cents.

Suggesting the 101st puzzles me Aranka/Hauptmann.
Do u really think a beginner player would be let into our clan, do you think we're that bad, plus I must admit we're not really a learning clan. I'm happy to give a few beginner tutor games, but not a clan yet. One of our requirements is 200 games.

There are two nice guys who help me, Orchid and Maximus. I didn't know, that i have to meet requirements to join a clan. Thanks to Ska for the link, i didn't see it before.

Basically you didn't need any requirement to join a clan. Clans are just bunch of peoples sticking together and giving themselves some name (usually putting that name before or after name), sometimes feeling good enough to made some requirements for new members.

In warlight no official clan system exists so far.

You even can found your own clan.

@Linlin: Charisma beats skills in many things and your stats are fine, maybe I just got lucky that one game? And maybe that game with Miyagi was just you having a bad day or something. :D I didn't refute it because, despite what Aranka may have been implying by suggesting those three to a new player, I think they are active presences on the forum and Warlight in general, that allow well-rounded and professional players (instead of just those with 90%+ on their stats, no clans in particular being implied there *cough* >.>)

@Apollo: I'm sorry you took it that way. I'm well aware that {101st} has requirements that need to be met before being allowed to join. Also, I wouldn't have taken the time to suggest a "bad clan" to anyone and I assumed that if she were to attempt to apply to a clan (your clan or any other) she could be eingearbeitet...(umm something like "broken in") and trained until she met the requirements. Plus, she had 50+ games in 4 days, how long would it take her to get to 200. She has a 1/3 victory rate, so by game 200 she could easily be winning at least half her games, theoretically ;)

I've heard from some players that a lot of tutoring they received was from within clans and some players learn best by being thrown into tough games instead of working from a beginner level upwards. There's a specific name for that learning style, but it escapes my mind for the moment...

That's how you started Arun, still I even remember you're first games in the Noobschool. Everyone has to start somewhere. And if older players pass on good games(wo)manship then the skill level across the site can only improve.

Not everyone starts in the deep end, quite few people play like 500 + in real time 1v1 and are quite good just from that, without being taught by anyone. However it is faster if you are taught obviously :D

@Hauptmann: I'm not really that charismatic, and while how I acted in the hunt is quite a bit off-putting, even for me... well, I tend to not act very charismatic.

As for if I'm bad... well, I don't think I'm particularly horrible at the game, but I'm definitely not an amazing player, either. Keeping at around 1600 for 5+ months tells me that I'm solid and pretty consistent.
For the games... I don't remember your game. (Though I think I was under Naivete at the time, meaning I just wanted to level quickly and played badly) Against Miyagi, I didn't get the FTB and then played stupidly after because it was EA&O which I am very predictable in.

@Apollo: Two completely different approaches here, huh? While I do respect your more direct approach, it honestly looks like you just fed the troll (Aranka). As for the 200 games requirement, you let Unreality in (Unless you're telling me he's an alt).

Some 70 games isn't realy a lot(ignoring where you played them in 4 days)so your skill should still rise as you play.
Anyway, don't hesitate to ask an opponent who beat you what he thinks you did (wrong) to lose,
read the wiki, figure out the different kinds of games.
You can join a clan, but they 're about more then just learning, i 'd play a few more games before deciding whether to join one/which one.

@Linlin, that is very true. But I was teaching Unreality before the 101st and he was giving me some good games, and I do not hesitate to allow him in if he does that, especially if he's kind and a active player also.

I would say so if your going to stay a while, cause you get ladders, ad block, other things i don't done if non-members can unlock. But it's worth it, it's a way of saying thanks to Fizzer as well.
