Controversy

The biggest threat to warlight's existence came in a forum thread titled "Don't lie to yourselves" created by user 'lawlz', then named 'National Socialist'. The thread featured multiple rants about the third reich, homosexuals, and racial tension. Warlight creator, fizzer, was almost doxed by lawlz in response to the backlash he recieved.

This made my day :D

Nice to see WL has a Wikipedia page.

Fizzer if you tell how the text should exactly look like, I'd be happy to check and correct it semi-regularly.

I can try making some edits if I'm allowed.

The game lenght is flawed - rt may be somewhat accurate for most part, but multiday should have "each turn" or something along those lines.. there's not many MD games lasting 1-3 days.. unless they're played as RT..

The 'basic strategy' and 'alliance' section is a bunch of bs, i suggest it should be removed. made some minor edits to the map and coins section, grammar corrections and such.

I made a few edits, and tried to put a picture in. However I can't upload the file (needs to be an "auto confirmed" user, aka user for 90-100 days). Hope one of you guys can do that :p

This is partly where funding is needed and where I believe that eventually the money profited needs to go, especially with a game like Waright. Partly advertising on different website or increased reach, but the marketing aspect of it all. Keeping an official page up to date and professional in a more common place where internet surfers can come across it more accessibly.

Also Fizzer, you could just use pending protection on the wiki page

I don't have time right now, but if someone can make a list of things to add/edit/put on the page, I can do that as time goes on.

As well, the main thing with the wikipedia page is there is no links from outside sources. All the links are either with-in page or out. If someone could create a blurb (1-2 paragraphs max) detailing what Warlight is, I can throw it on a few pages (risk, online gaming, etc.) and maybe get a higher traffic flow.

I think we need more links inside of Wikipedia talking about WarLight. That is what the top of the page says right now. "This article is an orphan, as no other articles link to it. Please introduce links to this page from related articles; try the Find link tool for suggestions. (December 2014)"

So we need to find other articles on Wikipedia and link to the Warlight article. I would look for other risk clones on Wikipedia and all the dozens of articles that discuss risk.

It's not just as easy as finding them, plus you can't promote only reference. As for the risk articles, most are company run (ie. Hasbro's Risk) and it may just be edited out since it's not relevant to their company.

The worst written page I've ever seen on Wikipedia. Let me try and improve things.

Fixing basic stuff atm because I'm a Wikipedia noob. I'll learn the code scripts before overhauling the page. Let's not have a stub here!

You guys should take into account that the likely reader of the page is probably someone who's unfamiliar with WL, rather than a WL hardcore player. Including all that jargon and technical terms will mean nothing to that type of reader, and will just make them lose interest.

I realise how a Wikipedia article should read... Why don't you do some editing?

Seriously, stop adding Strategy tips, and other advanced things like that. The article looks like an advertisement about the game. We should explain the game, tell a bit about it, and these things, but not the same as in the Warlight wiki.

Also, for everyone who is not a native English speaker, we must do an effort and try to translate the page in other languages. I'll start making the Spanish Warlight article, you could do the same with other languages.

IMPORTANT THING: Don't add unnecesary things, and, over all, don't translate with Internet translators. They should be ready to be read by a normal person, so better translate with your own words if you are going to do it.

*Ok, maybe it's more difficult than I thought at the beginning, but I'll try anyways.*
