Boston knows me and he knows that I dont accuse him of racism in the way you seem to understand it. He knows the things I tell him about the country he lives in and more often than not he agrees allthough he would rather not know all the nasty details i tell him.
I do realize that most of you dont have the necessary insight in what state the world is in, or the agenda under which things are happening. Most plainly lack the ability or the information to see the patterns or interdependencies under which violent acts against human beings are happening.
Granted the mercy of being born in a priviledged enviroment you are completely unaware of how your government is directly responsible for the injustice done to millions of people all over the world. Due to unwilligness or sheer indifference of accessing indepedent media, you are unable to put the things into perspective.

It is always sad when people die in an act of terror. It is sad and I am sorry for those people. But you can not sit in front of your TV, exictedly watch Baghdad getting bombarded in an injust and illegal war, demand the bombardment of Iran for them trying to immunize themselves against foreign aggression by aiming for a nuclear bomb or demand to bring death and misery upon the people of North Korea for living under an oppressive dictatorship and then suddenly stand up and cry out when an act of terror hits the very streets you walked in.
Terror is terror, no matter if done by individuals or armies.
And it is that very hipocrisy that is making people angry, because it is deeply injust and adding insult to injury for those less fortunate people suffering in other parts of the world in much greater number and graveness.

Wow, this thread went down the crapper in a hurry. As someone that has seen these senseless acts myself (live in Denver where they are still doing trial on Aurora theater shooter), I feel for the families.

I'm not going to argue the politics of this until we know who did it and why.

And I am a very political person in general, and I agree the US illegally waged war with Iraq and should not have been there, and should not be in Afghanistan now and should not be doing drone strikes either. But all of that has nothing to do with this event until proven otherwise. Other senseless losses of life do not make these any better. Just because elected officials think we should be the global policemen does not mean the citizens do.

Seriously guys. I agree with Green's post, and I hope some of you guys will agree with me. This post is grieving the loss of completely innocent people and a foreign attack on proud United States soil. It feels to me as though all of this talk otherwise is disrespecting those affected.

I take this topic very seriously and, while I know that none of you intend it, the way that you all have taken the conversation to something different, unrelated, and that could be construed as offensive.

This event is identical to many overs with far fewer deaths. Why should we moan this one and not others.

Monday was a holiday in boston. I spent it drinking in my backyard as a I grilled. No one I know personally or by connection was affected. I do go by this site somewhat frequently.

This event will have an affect on me though one shouldn't let it stop them from doing things they would normally do.

There were several other incidents that occured on monday that unfortunately will not be discussed. This frustrates me as well.

My "American government" does bad things here and abroad, most governments do. There may be something in the saying "there is a price to freedom". What that price is, however, is often ugly and not discussed. Lines are crossed that shouldn't be by both sides. My government though elected does not always put the desires of the people who elected them as their primary objectives.
