Sorry if I'll become an ass by asking you this, but what happened in Boston?
Was it another of those shooting incidents?

My deepest sympaties to you and to anyone who lost someone important to them today. I am lucky to have no personal experience of losing someone in this way but it must feel awful.

Aranka. I have always liked you.

You seem sweet, innocent and don't understand many things. These things I expected.

Today you have frustrated me.

I weep for friends in boston and hope them all well.

Firstly, I do not diminish the deep hurt which was inflicted on the victims and their families and friends. I utterly condemn any form of terrorism (home grown or external agents) against innocent civilians especially children.

However, it is ironic that a city that has a large population of Irish Americans is the victim of a terrorist attack when the same groups of Irish Americans were happy to donate to IRA funds in support of an ideal and conflict that they didn't really understand. The IRA would then use that money to fund terrorist attacks in Northern Ireland and on mainland Britain to bomb high streets and even a funeral where the victims were not politicians or armed services but just ordinary folk and children. They bombed the Conservative Party conference at Brighton in the early 80s but they didn't diminish the resolve of the politician but cemented them. At that conference there would have been ordinary workers: hotel staff, chefs, waiters and other service staff who had no power over the troubles in Northern Ireland. Did those workers deserve to die? Can you right a wrong with further violence? Is revenge productive?

So all forms of terror attacks are wrong and do not serve any purpose but to maim, kill, frighten and anger people. No peace or settlement will be found from this. Before you subscribe to some violent ideal that leads to terror attacks you have to think of the victims and their families and how it would affect you if your family were hurt.

Actually yes it is necessary Gnullbegg.

He's not trying to argue that those people were guilty of something and/or deserved to be bombed. Nothing would actually merit a punishment of being blown apart by explosives.

On the other hand though, since it's now an event closer to their home (Boston,USA) people tend to get emotional.
And if emotional they lose context and are unable to put things into perspective.

And oh yeah btw....if you get furious about an innocent 8 year old dying.....better get annoyed at your own government for letting children die needlessly because of their religious conservative approach to stem cell research.

Firstly, no offense was intended and I apologise if any genuine offense was caused.

I felt it necessary to look at the big picture of global terrorism that is not a recent occurrence. It has been going on for decades. Many groups who were aloof from the violence have been funding terrorism and I hope now that they have developed some empathy or sympathy, some shame and some regret at funding these acts of violence.

My point was aimed at all sympathisers and supporters to these terrorists that they should take responsibility as much as the terrorists themselves. Stop supporting them and stop funding them!

We are exercising our rights of free speech and I accept your (Gnullbeggs) right to ctiticise my point of view but not to deny my right to speak.

I did not criticise the victims or justify the violence in Boston.

I simple make a point about society taking blame as there are people amongst our communities who think it is okay to support violence against other groups who are not like us simply because they are not like us. How many care about the 29 or so dead in Mogadishu? Or care as much? How many Irish Americans cared about blood spilt in the British Isles? Only if they were Catholic Irish?

I think we have to be more sympathetic to other human beings and not just see other peoples as demonised or irrelevant faceless strangers.
