In my experience it just saves time, there's usually a pattern for bad behavior in hosts, and it's usually just a waste of time and effort to explain to people why there is a problem (I have tried in the past). So I just save myself and everyone a lot of time and just leave the game. If your template hinges on every single player not leaving a game then... well, perhaps your template isn't as good as you thought it was?
I generally make my templates focus on the enjoyment of the game itself, which means sometimes the historical accuracy is reduced. I can make historically accurate templates too, but you have to be careful with all this "extra" stuff you talk about that you're not just making something simple much more complicated than it needs to me. It's a game after all... I think this segregation is a good thing though, you can all stick to your way of doing things, and me and my friends will stick to our's...
