Thanks for the feedback! If only ps could do some Russian to go along with his French :P

As for your offer, I don't like to manage alt accounts(only use them for team games). If you have some chat game which you guys use to communicate you can add my main account and I'll definitely provide any feedback I can. If you use skype, that works too.

you can invite my "Don't hurt me" alt / bye account to Optimum if you want.

i mentioned on the clan creation thread that i wouldn't mind being added to the github group to check what you're cooking and give some feedback but got no response. i assume what you're doing is opensource on github.

i don't want to join a clan with my main account, it's a personal stand thing.

also i still think it's silly to create a clan for mod development.

Sorry ps, I guess we missed that somehow. I sent a PM to knyte as a reminder about your earlier comments and asked him to invite you (as your alt).

knyte is using github, yes. I've never signed up on github yet, but I presume I will quite soon. Everything will either be open source or at the very least of some liberal 'community' type of license. Not entirely decided yet, but the intention is certainly to be very open, so I'm guessing we'll end up with some open source license. Just need to iron it out.

Re: having a clan for it. Well, technically, the clan is not *only* for development. knyte originally had in mind a more complete clan including players and mentorship for game play. But currently we're focusing on dev to try to get some sorely-needed tools up and running. We've already added one or two non-devs, so it's not an exclusive thing.

As for how it's working out, I think it's kinda nice to have this clan space where we can discuss dev openly without cluttering the main forums. And because we're mostly a bunch of devs, the brainstorming and discussion has been very productive in generating and sharing lots of potentially good ideas. Still too early to say yet, but I'm getting more and more enthused as we go. :-)

At some point soon, we will probably set up a more public space, such as a separate web page or forum where anyone can join/view discussions and see what we're working on more visibly. But for now the clan thing is just convenient and 'good enough' for our little projects and brainstorming. We're still roughing out the basics for now. :-)

BTW: I'm not a native French speaker, but from what I can tell, your accent was really really good. I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference between a native French and your accent. Also, you're in Portugal, right? But your normal accent doesn't spark any memories of other Portuguese accents I've heard in the past (not that I've heard that many, honestly, so maybe I just don't know them that well), so I'm curious if you're native Portuguese, or perhaps an immigrant there? Sorry if this is offensive to ask, no offense intended; honestly, when I first heard your accent when speaking English, it most reminded me of a few friends I had from Bulgaria -- one friend in particular, you sound almost exactly like him from what I remember, though your voice is slightly deeper. If I'm wrong, then it is still quite interesting that his accent and yours would sound so similar; I wonder why that might be. Maybe some sort of similarity between the languages, though that seems like it would be a pretty weird coincidence. Anyway, just thought I'd mention it after your French accent performance, which was very well done and funny too.

Understandable. I'm glad I didn't need to set up an alt myself, I would find it bothersome too.

I think it was JSA (alt JSA2) who suggested to set up a chat game soon, so we may do that soon. Thanks.

you're missing out on insight from other devs that lurk on forums (and possibly even fizzer himself) on your discussions, having it public would be much more beneficial imho. some people still go through the old CLOT threads to get some info for example.

as for my accents and nationality, i am native portuguese, i'm just good with accents so i don't have the portuguese on my english, i enjoy adding accents other nationalities now and again, for comic relief, just learned from movies and foreign friends.

i just want to add my hatred for chat games. keep popping up on my games list even after i declined, takes forever to load the backlog chat and simply games were not meant to be used as message boards. i understand the limitations of the mail system not being able to add and remove people dynamically, but ffs, mailing list on mailchimp or group chat on skype please.

for reference, this is my alt account that can be invited to optimum.

it's currently suffering an evolution of name changes to list "haddaway - what is love" lyrics on the historic to annoy the living crap out of everyone who checks the profile all the way down, not being able to get the track out of their heads for a few hours. call it an art project if you will.

I f'ing love that song! Whooah ooh whoah ooh whoah ooh ah whoah ooh, oh whoah ooh ah whoah ooh, whooah oohhhh!

I basically agree with this, but again, at this point we're still just roughing it out. We don't have much to show right now, and when brainstorming something more or less from scratch, it's kinda reassuring that one's dumber ideas don't get thrown into the spotlight and ridiculed to death; it allows room for more 'free' brainstorming and experimentation, for example.

We will definitely make stuff more public when we have something to show for it.

I'll bring that up when the topic comes up again. I would probably get annoyed like that too.

I've sent an invite to No more- thanks for the notification, wct. There is an open-source project on GitHub associated with Optimum but most of the discussion/etc. is happening within the Clan Forum; I'm publishing what I'm working on onto GitHub, however, although it's currently a couple version behind what I'm testing locally. https://github.com/warlight-infinity-project

PM me on here or on GitHub if you would like to get invited to that group. I'd really love having more activity in the GitHub Group than on the Clan Forum.

For the clan invite, I don't think I received anything either. Maybe it went to email (which I never check)? I just went to the clan page and there was some button or link to 'accept' the invite or 'join' or something like that.

To be honest, generally we keep a lot of our work open, and we talk on the general forums just as much as the clan one's, in fact a lot of them are almost parallel. The advantage we have is being able to keep a lot of the technical discussions in the main clan forums without it getting cluttered up, and also cluttering up these forums, I often feel a lot of our discussions are spilling into the general forums a lot anyway...

Don't be jealous, all our work isn't clan-only, as things get to a more "ready" state we'll start releasing things to the public properly, it'll probably all come in a flood :)

Stuff like my map analysis tool is already live, it's just a lot of people don't really show interest, that's up to the players, we can't push the stuff we're making, and there's not much point. If you want to discuss anything then you can always PM one of us anyway, that's how a lot of our communication is done anyway :)
