There are three fundamentally different ways that Warzone maps can be distributed when the game starts:

  • Normal Distribution: In a normal distribution, a subset of the available territories are distributed to players. This includes popular distribution options such as Warlords and Cities. In a normal distribution, all players are guaranteed to have the same number of starting territories.
  • Scenario Distribution: Scenario Distributions are created by map creators and allow for the map to be divided into different areas for different players. This is used by things like Double Earth's Top/Bottom distribution option.
  • Custom Scenario: Custom scenarios allow game creators to specify exactly how they want the map to start, territory-by-territory.

Game creators can also choose whether to distribute territories randomly (Automatic Distribution) or to let the players choose which territories they want (Manual Distribution).
