Also North Korea is a threat, any hostile country starting a nuclear army program can be considered as a threat.

I've heard Tierra del Fuego is a nice place to avoid nuclear war, way down there at the tip of South America.

I think the blasts and the radiations are not the real danger for mankind's survival in case of a global nuclear war.

In my opinion, nuclear winter qualifies better for the Grim Reaper's Scythe role.
Granted, it's a theorical (and may it stays so) and controversed scenario. But a massive use of nuclear weapons all over the planet would undoubtedly cause a colossal firestorm, with rock materials, debris and ashes expulsed into high atmosphere thus blocking sunlight and its best gift : photosynthesis.

Should the rain clean enough of this dirt in time, it would not go without extreme climatic disasters, each of them causing more direct casualties, more lost crops, more species extinctions (animals, plants,etc). facing a global famine after the collapse of all organized structures, the survivors would then fall back to barbaric ages.

And this, without taking into account any harm that chemical reactions in the atmosphere might cause to the ozone belt.

Southern hemisphere is supposed to suffer less, for most of the nukes would probably be used in the Northern one.
Therefore I'd put my coin on southern countries where people already are used to survive (not that nicely, but still) with not much, where a big part of the population works in agriculture, far from the sea (tsunamis), without too much volcanic or sismic activity, not overcrowed, with enough water and vegetal + animal diversity and that shelter no strategical target : Central Africa

Why do people think it will be all joly in space? You have to travel their In rockets, it takes ages to get there, and even if you get there you need oxygen.

Europe: Target by Russia with little defense.
Asia: Target by West with little defense.
Australia/New Zealand/Canada: Not a target.
Switzerland: Not a target.
Middle East: Has oil. Same as Asia.
Africa: Can barely support it's own people.
