Is T4R corrupt?: 2/24/2015 23:02:08

Greetings.

I do not believe diplomacy and roleplay are mutually exclusive. However, one has a negative connotation derived from the audience it attracts, diplomacy. Regardless if one is considered of lesser quality or not, they both attempt to provide a similar experience which can be easily modified by the hosts to suit their purpose.

Coming back to the audience diplomacy games draw in. I have found many of these players do not communicate, regularity ignore rules, and are overall immature/disrespectful. As a result, I can only conclude that those that enjoy the finer points of diplomacy/roleplay disregard diplomacy games as a legitimate game type when in reality roleplaying exists in all true diplomacy games. This is to distance themselves with a game type that has lost so much face that associating oneself with it will end in elitist players looking down upon the player in question. Thus, we have a distinct divide. If anything, the majority of diplomacy games hosted on Warlight are pseudo-diplomacy and are more similar to blob simulator 2015.

Anyway, diplomacy requires a certain amount of skill in regards to Warlight, but being a skilled player is not indicative of success in diplomacy or roleplay game types. One must be able to communicate effectively, be willing to play ruthlessly in regards to their 'allies', be able to stay on top of the diplomatic landscape of a particular match, etc..

Genghis it really depends on the community and the effectiveness of the leaders doesn't it?

T4R has 99 players I believe, and while we have a very centralized administration we still managed to stay on top of everything and everyone. Of course having a dedicated leader and subordinates helps; however, having standards is far more important. We strive for our members to have a certain level of etiquette so they present the clan, which happens to have a serious negative connotation before any interaction begins, in a positive fashion.

Order and dedication from leaders can manage a large community, and of course having enough humility to divide the labor when required.

Please do send Livermor or myself mail if you see one of our members acting up. Thanks.

I find that playing WL Diplos tend to be like Civ IV.

You have to appease everybody, but you constantly get gang rushed by other Civs and usually only have 1-2 good allies who might be weak. Constant communication, and swallowing your pride are probably the 2 most important factors to winning Diplomacy.

Being a little above or at par with the average player, and having much 1v1-2v2 experience, you'd think strategy alone makes me somewhat dominant in the political diplomacy field.

^tl;dr I agree with Thomas and Rommel.

If you want to have any fun out of Diplomacy/RP Games, you have to organize them with friends and include rules that add flavorful twists.

YES

Put at least 1/3 friends:

1. You are more likely to win anyway (easier to get allies)
2. A LOT less booting.
3. Put a 10+ filter on the games for safety...

Watevz. I recognise the important role T4R had in establishing diplomacy as a popular game on WarLight.

(response to Semice)

Irony aside,

(Correct me If I'm wrong) How centralized power is doesn't affect how the government's leaders are decided or what government is in place.

Anyway, I think you miss the point of my entire lecture:

Diplomacy/RP Clans (or clans in general really) on WarLight do not need politics/complex government nor should they have it. The fact that someone "took over" demonstrates how flawed your system is. Political parties? Lol. Wolf elections? More Lol.

The person in control is the person that bought the clan. Period. Anything more, and you risk $15 of earned money. If you are so unable to strictly enjoy the main game that you need politics inside your clan, clearly WL isn't your game.

Listening to your community is good. When your community isn't pointlessly divided and sectionalized.

Spying on other clans? Do you get off on that or something?

Bottom Line: You shouldn't have a government in a game like this. It is unnecessary. You do need administration, otherwise the average member feels isolated. But, you shouldn't needlessly complicate things when you just want to (as a community) play RP games. Just organize RP games and have fun. Don't spam the forums with stupid stuff about how your government system backfired on you.

Semicedevine,

T4R was never a hyperactive clan. Our time of notoriety was when Michael was spearheading his own public relations campaign on these forums. Great guy, but was too eager to pick a fight.

Anyway, T4R, like I had just said, has never had a truly active large portion of its community. Most of our core members communicate outside of Warlight, and unfavorable events have kept this from changing.

Our founders and community manager have taken a leave of absence leaving behind a very capable leader and myself. My hands are tied 80% of the time with my courses and or work. While I have made numerous attempts at reviving the community I love I have had very limited success.

However, the way you speak so highly of 'spying' on other clans is disconcerting. Do you enjoy trying to create needless drama? I suppose that is one way to promote activity, to give your members the gossip of the week. Also, out of curiosity I have checked many of the well-known clan's forums, and yours, while active, promotes and discusses nothing of worth. Although, that is just me projecting. It isn't the type of activity I would enjoy seeing in T4R. It has no real substance behind it.

Genghis, I personally believe clan government is a good concept. Spamming the public forums about it, not so much. But being inclusive of all members in making decisions (which a clan can do regardless of 'government' type) is in itself good fun which in turn promotes activity and enjoyment. Yet, when you grant random members administrative rights you are asking for trouble.

Now why sure I even took the time to reply. Guess I am trying to give T4R a tiny bit of relevance again.

THE WOLF INFLUENCE

Uninfluential clan is Uninfluential.

If you're not going to give out manager rights, then the entire electoral system is a farce.

If you play rp games, then keep the rp to the games. This entire drama system you have in place really gives wolves bad press.

The only thing i like about your clan is fleets. It's the only thing that goes with viking theme.
