The AI has not been changed. Keep in mind that some of the AIs decisions involve randomness, since one of its goals for the single-player levels was to not be easily predictable. This is likely what's causing you guys to see different behaviors on occasion.
It will attack teammates to take a bonus, but it must already control at least as much of the bonus as anyone else, or it will never try. Further, it won't try to take a teammate's bonus until the teammate has evacuated it of extra armies.
