I guarantee the G50 won't have the top 50 players, purely because some players will refuse to join

according to me , becoming top member of a "good "clan is better than getting top position in ladder ,
all those good players who are not a warlight member ,
must have thought of getting 1st position on the ladder someday.....
but since they are not a member , joining a good clan and cut off it in the top position , is the best way to tell others who is the strongest/stronger.

on the other hand this gives others an alert that if anyone else "who is not in the top 50" , feels like the clan is not having the best 50 players of warlight , could anytime challenge the clan memnber.

and as yuanshai told , if the challenger won through the one who is challenged then he will be the new member of the [20] .... and the other will go home.

"conclusion" : the day will come soon when [20] will be having the top 50 players of warlight .

They want 50. There are only 31 members so far. and yes, I only want to join for the league-aspect of it.

we want 50. we got 51+. waiting for a new vote to see who battles whom to stay in. no hurry.

ideally, we want the best 50. but since there is no way to determine who the best 50 are (without a universal elo rating system for all warlight players), that is not possible. what we said is we want "50 of the best," which is not the same as "the best 50."

I'll give it a go in a few weeks when all of the wrinkles have been ironed out and a load of reality cheques have been written and issued :D

No chance in hell. You will never get all of the top-10 ladder players to join the clan... not even the top-5 and obviously those are adjudged to be the best members at the present time and would likely fall into the top 50 overall players.

Such a league will NEVER have the top 50 simply because too many top players won't be interested in joining, especially members who have the ladder for such a ranking.

This is not to say it won't have good players, merely that it won't be THE top 50.

that is correct. though we have more or less (depending on the day you look at the ladder) half of the top 15 and half of the top 20. for the 2v2 ladder we have #1, #3 and half of #4, #5, #6, #8, #9. we'll do better in the 3v3 ladder (whenever that is introduced).

though, richard the WL member, you do overlook a few things:

1. there are at least 5 non-members who could make it to the top 5 of the 1v1 ladder (saladin, zibik, lollipop, wini maybe, others). that makes the 1v1 ladder just as imperfect as [20].

2. 1v1s are not the only way to judge a player. 1v1s, 3v3s, 2v2s, FFAs, 2v2v2s are the key stats to determine a player's overall ability. the 1v1 and 2v2 ladders don't measure the complete player. it is for this reason that it is impossible to group together the 50 best players: it is impossible to measure a player's overall skills.

if you can't determine the best 50, how can you put them all in a group of 50? lol

Yuanshuai, I agree with you completely in all respects. I recognize the ladder is a flawed process and is subject to vagaries (thus the constant turnover)... however, some members would still see it as the validation that this clan would allow for non-members. As such, they wouldn't likely join.


Just as is the case with any competitive event, objectively determining the top X contenders is simply impossible. It will always be subjective and time-dependent.

I have no doubt your group will have a very strong roster... never meant to imply otherwise. Merely saying you will never get THE top 50 (if such a thing could be quantified). For instance, were I one of the mythical top 50 (which I clearly am not) I would have little interest in joining this clan (or any other) and I am sure there are plenty of others with similar views.

yes. plenty of top players declined. a few others had no response. a handful said they'd wait before considering.

though there is a misunderstanding: we never said we are "the best 50" players on warlight. we are merely trying to make a group of "50 of the best" (100-200 players).
