Remembering it as best as I can in my mighty head of mine... (We're fucked)

1. Regarding Spy Cards . I like that it's the only template I've played that uses a spy card. Spy cards can add a interesting element in the psychology part of WarLight. In most games , You play turns to gain more information of the opponent. In this template , You get all this juicy information at the start. It actually gives me the impression of chess, You play the spy card on Turn 1, You know where the enemy is and you make a plan on how to counter the enemy in the way they will expand.. It's just awesome. I like it. (Although I'm a Ironic idiot because I haven't played this template)

Also SR templates are generally counting work if you care enough, So I see this as a more general argument for SR then for this template alone.

2. The Standardized bonus gives the risk factor in picks. In my game against Gangnam Style , I remember specifically a Eastern Balkans combo , Gangnam clustered picked it at a high risk for high reward. I got the counter and won that game. If Standardized bonuses are reduced, It will be a boring map with 2s and 3s bonuses.

Now I don't really care if If this template gets in, I decided to throw it into the template ideas pot. The MDL ladder idea was to test a player strength in all accounts in different ways or something like that, I believe this template does in 1. Cards - You get 7 of them and you got to time it to perfection and use them efficiently and 2. It gives a different kind of psychological play , Different to the 1v1 ladder I feel.

I think it fits to what the ladder is about, Therefore I believe it should be strongly considered to be added.

@dogberry Variety is only good when the template produced is good. This eu template after picking is just going back to turn 1 or 2 and counting up what they did, and if every turn is 3 days you're going to do that a lot.

How is that any different from any other SR template where the picks are obvious? For as awesome as the new Africa template is, I find it is very rare when I do not have intel on at least 5 of my opponents bonuses, and it is normally very easy to predict whatever intel I am missing. Counting plays a disproportionally critical role in the player's success.

Variety may only be good when the template is good, but too many people reject any and all templates as bad and unplayable solely on the basis of very specific settings, whether they be WR, MA, or whatever else isn't 0% 60/70 SR. For players like myself who are willing to accept a slightly larger amount of variety, this mindset is frustrating.

What is amazing to me is how so many chess players only want to play the same generic template over and over and over and over and over again.

Updates-
  • Added the ability to create games using randomized bonuses.
  • Added a new template - Randomized Strat ME

What are randomized bonuses and what is so special about them?
Most templates use random warlords to create dynamic boards on every game. Randomized bonuses takes this one step further. Every board will have bonuses which are different by +1 or -1 or equal to their original values. This is randomly determined during game creation and you cannot stick to standard patterns while picking!

This is a setting which the CLOT can now support. I've applied it to Strat ME. If you have other templates where you think this could work, play an example game and send it to me.

Don't you need to be a member for randomized bonuses?

No. You just need to be a member to create the game(which the CLOT account is). The only pre-req for joining a randomized bonus game is to be able to override bonuses(level 45?). I'm not sure why the behavior is different from other member only features. But I'm not complaining!

What's the point in the addition fo templates with autodistribution? That's 99% luck and 1% skill ._.

you could veto it if you dont like it. my guess is that there will not be anymore introduced, since it is likely introduced to have all formats in the mdl

Which one is autodist? Cause it looks like you mistake 'randomized bonuses' with 'autodistribution' ;>

While I agree with your sentiment, I think you should give this template a chance. It is surprisingly balanced due to the standardized bonuses, low starts and high starting income. If you're still not convinced, link the game you think was decided on luck, and let's discuss how the unlucky team could win.

But with LD having the starts next to each other is usually better. If you have each pick in a corner, you are fucked.
Auto dis could be interesting in balanced maps with no LD, though.

I general, you're right because the initial armies can combo for a bonus. Here you can max save 1 army if you get two spots close to each other. I'd argue it's better to have your picks spread a little so you can slow down your opponent more efficiently
