Russia looks really neat! I wonder what is the income difference between whole Russian Empire and German Empire in this map.

@ Stewie:
Well thank you! :D
Last last AI-test i did made the AI that stated in Petrograd the winner without much opposition. Russia and its vassals are worth over 1200 income right now. To make a scenario more balanced, you would have to improve all Central European Provinces greatly. Right now German Empire and Colonies has 140 income that will mostly double after given its African possesions.

Update: Added 3 more bonuses to Persia, including a certain infamous British Company (BP!).

While BP did have influence in Persia, was that land actually considered theirs?

Also, I would probably cut down the Siberia bonuses, but keep the Trans-Siberian one (showing how breaking it breaks Russia's supplies)

Well, if i would go for lawful control, Egypt would be Ottoman and not British. ;) It was a concession and the tribe around it was bribed by the Brits so you could put it into the status of an informal princely state.

I will not cut down Siberia. The Russian government put huge effort into developing theese lands and it would not do it justice. Effectively, with LD on, no AI in my testruns was able to control the whole region alone.

Update: Added annother two bonuses to Persia.

Persia is finished.

Now there still remain the huge problems concerning Africa: True unbiased maps. Here is an example of two maps about the same region with largely different messages (i personally think the first one is more acurate, while the second is only British wet dreams): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Horn1915ad.png and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Somalia1911.png.

PLEASE help me with finding accurate information about Africa. :D

It depends on whether you're looking for de facto or de jure control.

I'd say use the neater borders, but state some of the areas as "Somali tribes". Most maps of the time label it as such.

Added two bonuses in Libya.

I would totally prefer de facto control, armies do not give a shit what person defenders nominally fight for. Thank you for your help, that map is nice. :D

Oh!

The interior of Somalia, including some parts of modern eastern Ethiopia, were part of the Dervish State. The Italians invaded them in WWI, as they were seen as Ottoman allies.

I will do the Horn after i work myself from Libya southwards. ;) Do you have information about the borders of the Darfur Sultanate in 1914? Specifically if that big Oasis in Northern Sudan was part of it or who controlled it (if not, i will just assume it was under Senussi control)

Added annother two bonuses to Libya. Also reworked Egypt to make it more acurate, with provinces changing bonuses among other things.

To be honest, while map itself is nicely arranged and probably accurate in terms of names, connections etc., this, as other maps that try to resemble actual situation in one period of time, suffers from the same problems.

I myself moderated online game regarding WW 1 about 15 years ago, and noted that you cannot balance things by adding more lands or having more players if only one part of the map or few players are considered as decisive factors for the game.

Here I see waste plains of Russian Empire and just by checking their income you can see that sole player having that position can obliterate map in few turns (literally). Other two positions strong beyond reasonable points are India and Ottomans. Having India and Russia on the same side (and they are allied) will do things behave far different that authors idea.

Warlight doesn't offer trenches or fortresses as part of the game (maybe in future?), so it is not easy to predict what the course of the play would be, but I don't see how German Empire or Austria-Hungary can pass own border. To reflect trench warfare, attack value should not exceed 0.35 and defense value should be at about 0.85 - having standard values both Germany and Austria-Hungary will be eliminated in turn 10, this way it may be postponed to turn 15.

What I want to say is that you should consider posting some elements of the bonuses on vulnerable positions or lower all bonuses to reasonable level - to reflect that main theatre was in Europe.

Vulnerable positions for bonuses could be (for example)- Port Said or Suez (loss of either of these, while holding London would be -50), Sevastopol (loss of Sevastopol while holding Moscow would be -100), Kongigsberg (loss of Kongigsberg while holding Berlin would be -50) etc.

The key how to do that you may find in https://www.warlight.net/Map/15987-Issanders-New-Strategic-System-Africa - while it is not helpfull itself for this map, it can give you clue how to post strategic elements in your map.

Other thing is that looking for accurate levels in colonies will actually clog main theatre - you will want having more players in Europe, but you gave them only few valuable positions.

Well, i *could* use GDP figures... If i am allowed. In that case i would change the bonuses like in this example:

Austria-Hungary: 1049 income

Vienna - 126
Budapest - 84
Austria - 161
Bohemia-Moravia - 208
Galicia - 186
Greater Hungary - 229
Croatia- 34
Bosnia - 21

I will only add stategic positions if i have space left after Africa is done. Thank you for your feedback. :D

if you're using GDP figures then you have to give Belgium a bigger income than Russia. Just saying

Last time i checked, Russias GDP in 1913 was 7 times the size of Belgiums and its colonies.

Belgium proper - 324
Colonies - 20

Russia had over 2000.

... I'm mindblown. That's totally against the doctrine I was given in school. They told me Belgium was the 5th largest economy before the war and that Russia's economy was bankrupted.. guess I was wrong then
