i was stolen by a potato!

thinking of a better team name for us: "sack of rotten potatoes" sounds good. or "fucking embarassing" in memory of our beloved boston. both much better then "Spuds"!

Maybe if Spuds stands for something like Sack of Potatoes Under Dark Shadow!

"Legends of Light went all guns blazing for the first Rounds of Auction. I doubt it was a smart decision. Whereas Warsenal seems like have a totally different plan i.e buying only players who will be playing only 5 matches. Warsenal played the Auction smartly. Whereas Spuds bought only 1 player in the Auction. The real fun will be today when MoD is up for grabs. Most probably the other teams kept quite on the first day to bid high on MoD."

Not really sure why bidding on 5 game players would be any inherently better than bidding for 10 game players.

What I find more interesting is:

Tier 1: Summer 60 76 27% over base
Tier 2: Master Ryiro 48 60 25% over base
Tier 3: Master Atom Elite 19 28 47% over base
Tier 4: Hades 30 53 77% over base price
Tier 5: ps 24 35 46% over base price
Tier 6: INSIDE 18 0 Not purchased
Tier 7: Great Expanse 7 7 Base price
Tier 8: steve1513 6 6 Base price
Tier 9: Gustave II 8 21 163% over base
Tier 10: OxTheArtist 10 10 Base

@Jz yes I'm aware of that much. But I thought MotD would give us the names of who bid that much and the max bids on the players actually bought.

Random warlords is going to add the Castles into distribution...

That destroys the template. The wastelands seem to make the template different enough from game to game.

I think this being a blind auction or (sealed bid auction) is kind of the whole point, and this aspect is kinda awesome in its own way. Without knowing who exactly places competing bids, the managers have to speculate how the other managers are planning to build their teams. The very much public and final price paid, will only determine if a player had other clubs interested that were fought off.

At considerable risk, (anonymously) you could potentially drive up the price of other players without even necessarily wanting them by knowing other teams with money still in the bank might be willing to pay a fortune over base price and overspend. The auction should prove to be just as interesting as the League :) A little sad I didn't join in time :(

Any thoughts on whether new players could/should still be thrown into the Round 7 Auction? As potential wildcards? Assuming there was more latent interest to join than just myself haha.

Out of curiosity: What happens if there is a tie in bids? :P

The priority of the player for the tied managers is used to pick a winner. If the priority is the same as well, it is decided by a coin flip(as was the case with Master Ryiro).

At considerable risk, (anonymously) you could potentially drive up the price of other players without even necessarily wanting them by knowing other teams with money still in the bank might be willing to pay a fortune over base price and overspend.

Although this is a possibility, bidding more than what you can afford for a player is a recipe for disaster. A player could be valued highly by another manager and if you win that bidding war, you have a overpriced player on your hands. It is a dangerous game to play ;) Any bid which exceeds a manager's financial capability is ignored. Master Turtle cannot bid more than 97 Nohhams for any player going forward.

Players can still sign up for games. They will only be eligible for the Group B auction(tentatively scheduled for next Wednesday)

@Beren,buns
Let's test the template tonight with the different distribution modes and finalize on what is best.

Thoughts on Round 1.

Legends of Light
Players bought - 210
Salaries - 63
Balance - 127

Players bought
1 Summer 76 10
2 Master Ryiro 60 10
4 Hades 53 10
9 Gustave II 21 10

At first glance, seem to be the clear winners of round 1. The club had specific targets in mind. It went hard and got what it wanted. It has filled up 40 of the 55 game slots. I would expect all four of these players to play their full quota of games as well. I predict a cautious approach from this club for the rest of the auction. They have secured the tier 1,2,4 players in this group. Well done!

Warsenal WC
Players bought - 44

Players bought
3 Master Atom ◆Elite◆ 28 5
7 Great Expanse 7 5
8 steve1513 6 5
10 OxTheArtist 3 5

The club has employed a different different approach to the round with very specific targets in mind. It has secured some of the lesser known players at very low prices and filled up 20 of the 55 slots. I know Master Atom ◆Elite◆ and steve1513 get along great, so I would expect to see a team with them in it! The club also has a lot of money left, to fill up it's remaining slots, so I'm very curious to see how it fares in the coming rounds.

Spuds
Players bought - 35
Salaries - 10.5
Balance - 354.5

Players bought
5 ps 35 10

The club has pursued a dependable player with a very focused bidding strategy. It has filled up 10 of the 55 slots which gives it a lot of room to operate in future rounds. Will be interesting to see if the manager pursues only known players, or goes after some of the upcoming talent in the pool.

RandomPlayers, Robot Unicorns, WTF
Players bought - 0
Salaries - 0
Balance - 400

Three clubs have not signed any player in the first round. Although it seems like they are the clear losers of this round, a deeper look reveals interesting trends. The final price of a player is always 0 or 1 greater than the second highest bid. So everyone is congratulating the clubs which have acquired players, but it just means they bid high amounts. Purple Illusions posted the % increase from base price for every player, and there was a clear plan with the second highest bids. They've done their Math, and it seems like they know what they're doing. I wouldn't discount these clubs too soon.
