If you're tired of seeing U.S Politics, than start posting more European politics. I'm always interested in reading about the political situation in foreign countries.

I give you credit though. Out of all the Europeans who complain about seeing American political threads you're one of the only ones to do something about it and post some European politics.

One question though. Is the Pirate Party a serious thing? What on Earth is their platform? The rights of the Scottish people to sail the seven seas shall not be infringed?

I was kind of making a joke.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pirate_Party_UK

The party is actually about the other use of the word "piracy". Here are their 3 "core policies"

  • The reform of Copyright and Patent Laws
  • The protection of our Right to Privacy
  • The protection of our Right to Freedom of Speech

I'm disappointed too.

They are on the rise, though! Prepare for a new popular choice, as an alternative to the other parties.

Let's hope they double in size, so we have our right to information!

UK politics needs electoral reform (less than US, but more than some other Western Countries). The first past the post system is horrendous. I would love to see proportional allocation by autonomous region. So if SNP wins 90% of the vote in Scotland, they get 90% of Scottish seats. If UKIP wins 20% of the vote in England, they get 20% of English seats.

Instead what you have happen is UKIP gets 12.6% in the 2015 Election (a 9.5% increase by the way from 2010) and only gets 1 frickin seat. This system hurts left-wing and "right-wing" (UKIP is not that right wing compared to Front National, Fidesz, LDPR, Golden Dawn, etc) parties. This system is just plain unfair. The Liberal Democrats only won 7.9% of the vote in the 2015 election (a 15.2% decrease from 2010) and still manage to get 8 seats!!!

Well. I can get behind all three of those things.

Would of been funnier were there an actual pirate party though....

There's a rip-off the pirate party in here too. Except they aren't recognized by any serious party. They are basically a bunch of crazy leftists with rather weird views on how we should treat the internet and the media...

@Jai I totally agree. The system is completely horrific, and people aren't getting represented correctly because of it. While I don't like UKIP, it's obvious that some people do, and if some people do, then they deserve their fair share of the seats. The only thing is, is that SNP got a higher amount of seats than the vote. My defence for that though, is that they only ran in 59 constituences, and only got votes from those 59 constituencies, therefore, you can't expect SNP to get any more than 59, because what English person in the right mind is going to vote SNP?
