I wont play seasonal anyway, but i fear transfer only/attc only will be removed at all if we dont act now. Once Fizzer has things on his roadmap he cant be stopped anyway.
1. Its really not that complicated, the name pretty much says its function. If there actually is some human being in this world that just doesnt manage to understand the mechanics behind transfer only/attc only he probably will have to live with the fact that he s not going to be the next #1 warlight player.
2. The importance of these options is way to high. I really dont want to be offensive in anyway, but the last time i saw Fizzer play i got a feeling of why he would even consider removing these options - he didnt seem to be the strongest of warlight players, and probably isnt the best judge when it comes to questions like this. He should communicate with more experienced players when considering steps like these.
3. As i have a feeling Fizzer dislikes Attc only even more than Transfer only, please consider the only counter-argument that seems to exist is that people need to understand those feature. But once you understand transfer only, you also understand attc only. Removing just one of them doesnt make things easier to understand, it just looks like something is missing.
^I agree. He removed it from EU ladder, now this season. He stated in live stream he doesn't want them because they are not used often and noobs won't know how to use them. I am VERY worried at the trend that is appearing (of dumbing down the site for noobs). Fizzer is taking away a lot of strategic play with getting rid of these advanced attacks.
I have already had a EU ladder game where we could have used those features and cannot. And we've only played 4 games on it.
1. You can't practice the template if you are a free player, Hence the marketing ploy to make players take up the membership to gain access to commanders.
2. The commander seems too ugly to fit in the typical "auto game" template I wish there was a bit more innovation. This seems to be a easy thought idea.
3. No demand, Unlike the French Brawl template there was nice positive feedback on that (It won a template completion) so in some ways it is community friendly, Commanders are not! Hardly anyone made a big speech about how great commanders are, Though it sneaks to seasonal ladder, Why? Why did a randomly easily thought template as picked ahead of many others? There was no demand so it poses the question why?
In conclusion, Why was this template picked ahead of the others and what would be the overall effect on Warlight? And will Members having an advantage of practicing the template more than free members due to membership features will have an effect on seasonal ladder and attack in some ways the fairness in that respect.
He always wants to showcase a new feature. No surprise commanders would be used. Whether this is the best showcase of them...I don't know. I have not played with the setting yet.
everyone gets a free 30 day Trial membership to try out this Feature. it was obvious that this season would be commander Settings. to answer your question about why this template platinum: it's used on the Auto coin games
Ladders, the seasonal ladder, for instance, are meant to be strategic. Attack and Transfer only are very strategic. The difference between a 1v1 ladder player ranked about 200 and 180 is simply by using transfer only, as it prevents running into game-changing walls.
Attack and Transfer only are hidden in "advanced" (when sending an attack/transfer order) anyway. Newcomers generally don't look in "advanced", so why is it an issue that they have not seen/used this setting before? Furthermore, newcomers are unable to compete in ladders (unless they've bought a membership). The more times you use a setting (like attack/transfer only), your understanding of the setting increases, so the player knows what the setting does (in this case how if you try to transfer to a territory that doesn't belong to you, the transfer won't happen; vice versa with attack only).
Because there are commanders, you could be eliminated because of NOT being able to use transfer only. This means that 'worse' players could be ranked higher than some 'better' players, so the results of this season will be very inconsistent.
Due to commanders not being with attack/transfer only, this season seems to be flawed. I'll see how this season goes and then see I want to carry on with it. I'm expecting to see death by commander, from no transfer only orders.
Ok, I don't care much for the fact that it uses commanders. They're a nice gimmick, and it wouldn't be a bad seasonal ladder.
The no attack / transfer only bothers me though. The seasonal ladder, of all places, is not the place where noobs go to. You can't use the excuse of "noobs won't get it" when barely any noobs play the seasonal ladder.
I always miss the transfer/attack only options when they are not available and I am definitely very concerned this is part of a broader trend to simplify such options out of existence.
That said, more options does not always increase strategy in a positive fashion. I can get on board with the idea that sending your commander forward means taking a calculated risk, and there is a definite strategic element to that risk calculation.
For example, I think having transfer/attack only on Small Earth would make it too rote.
And take airlifts--they give you more options sure but I would say they generally decrease strategy.
So, I hope the exclusion of transfer only is a conscious decision to force you to risk your commander if you want to charge ahead with him and not just a simplification.
Definatly joining now :) I'm glad that I made a very detailed post about not having transfer only and commanders individualy and mixed not working well.
