Not what i said but i'm done with it. I don't think it's wrong to use an alt as i do. As i said: it doesn't make a big difference if you win or lose against this account or desi. Maybe i'll rejoin the ladder with that account for good again, but i want to have some more practise on some templates first. And desi is perfect for that.

Let me reiterate that I am not an alt.

I personally hate alts, not because they could be considered cheating (I don't play coin or ladder games, so it doesn't really effect me) but because it takes away from the multi-PLAYER concept of the game. Sure, everyone has had those bad experiences where your teammate/opponent sucks so badly that it ruins the game. But, it's the camaraderie and communication between players across the globe that makes Warlight fun! A more transparent Warlight is a better Warlight. It'd be nice to actually know your fellow players. The problem is in enforcing a no-alt rule. The only real solution is changing the general attitude towards creating alts (i.e. forum posts like these).

-just my 2 cents :)

You're free to join with an alt whenever you want, but when you say "I don't want to be unfair to Wazz" and deny being unfair to others I just don't think that is correct.

Well others don't have accounts with high ratings in the 2200 region and an alt they could also play with. Hence if he played Wazz with desi it would be "unfair" whereas compared to other players who don't have both it doesn't matter.

Ugh, because wazz has a high rating, it's not fair to him, but for those with a lower (non inflated) rating it is? Explain that logic to me. Wazz's rating will only go down. People with a lower rating tend to increase, so by making them lose a lot more then they should you're actually being more unfair to them than to wazz, whom will lose those points one way or another.

Wazz happily lost 70 points in 4 games in a row today, even though he will never get those points back up to the rating he was on.

Personally i would like all of the high rated accounts to play just enough games to drop them down to their actual rating. Since ones 2200+ it is near impossible to get to their ratings.

Though I have no problem with what mod is doing.

But to be honest does it matter which of the accounts mod plays with? Maybe he personally feels that it is fairer to play against wazz with the account which offers wazz the most points - who are we to judge on what he does?
Buns for szew's competition everyone will need 60+ games played, so it should result in everyone coming down the ranking to where they "should" be.

Hmmm ? I've already explained that it does matter? When the competition ends, will you see Mod playing the rt ladder? The answer is probably no. However maybe a few regulars of the RT ladder will keep playing it, and their rating could be higher but it isn't because for a short period they had to lose their rating to poorly rated alts. (poorly as in, lower rating then their main accounts). So once again I ask you, do you think it's fair?

Peixoto you don't know me. I've played last year excessively on the realtime ladder and played everybody, even if a win stripped away points of me. Between, as far as i know the competition didn't start yet and i'm planning on getting my challenge ticket trough a tournament anyway.

I could understand your endless moaning if you would be in the top 10 and i just threw you out of it trough joining for 1 game with mod account, the only viable reason i heard so far from ps. But since you aren't your rank won't rise, no matter if i use desi or mod. Only if i use both, your rank will sink 1 position

What's the difference between playing a poorly rated alt or a poorly rated main account? By that I mean someone who plays as if it was their alt, playing very often and not caring about their rating but is still a top tier player.

I understand Peixoto's point in general, but I don't think MoD is exactly the poster child for this issue. He's never been one to duck anyone on ladders, and he has played >400 RT ladder games on his main.

In general, the ethics of all competitive environments should dictate that there be only 1 account per player without any exceptions. Magnus Carlsen doesn't get to make ladder runs with an alt to try to set ELO records, nor does Rafa Nadal. It's inherently anti-competitive to allow multiple accounts per player.

Rafael Nadal is Rafael Nadal, not BigPimpin245. And Magnus Carlsen is Magnus Carlsen, not MoneyCashHoes69.

Make accounts that aren't so cluttered, and I'd clean up my first one and use that. Accounts are too disorganized.

Cluttered in what sense?

A bunch of you guys think it's cool to have 300 accounts.

it's not the fault of the rest of us that you insist in playing them all depending on the phase of the moon and the direction of the wind, instead of focusing on your main account.

We shouldn't be suffering in rating or ranking because of any cloning wanking from others. You're abusing the grey area of the rules. The only way to make them stricter is to ban accounts caught playing from same IP. this would hurt families, friend and co-workers playing out of same location and is already accepted that would not be very nice.

So in fact it's you, by creating clones and playing with them, that are causing this situation.

I don't see how the rules can be so hard to comprehend: It is not acceptable to play in ladder with another account that is giving you any sort of advantage. If you can think of any single one way that playing with an alt can give you an advantage in the ladder rating or ranking towards others, you shouldn't be using it. And you fool yourselves into thinking it's ok? How? Because others are also doing it?

You're using it, you're breaking the rules. And ruining the fun for everyone else trying to climb the ladder lawfully. It's not rocket science: You're not playing fair, please stop doing that.

I hear some of you whine about how others are trolling the ladder, or stalling or cheating or asking for person to drop out temporarily to give them 1st place. You should know very well it's not cool for the rest of us. It's not fairplay. And then you end up doing it aswell in one way or the other. That's just lame, childish and stupid.

You might get ranked higher for doing so but to me you are worth a lot less as a person because of it.

don't see the problem, the good player will play on the top anyway and player like me play just for fun and be happy to win against a good one for time to time no matter if it is an alt.
Besides the IP you just can give you account login to an better player perhaps to win a tournament or get a better place in ladder, think that would be more unfair than alts.

I don't really see the problem unless both are used on a solo ladder at the same time.

Although there are lots of issues with people hiding alts in clans and trolling them.

Why can't Fizzer just empower some people to check for these alts on ladders?
